Sandpines Golf on the Oregon Dunes. Florence About midway up the Oregon coast is the small coastal town of Florence. On the northwestern end of Florence is Sandpines Golf Links, an 18-hole public golf course with ocean views and outstanding golf. This fabulous course has been 4 star rated, and on the top of best places to play lists of such prestigous magazines as Golf Digest, Golfweek, Golf Woman and Golf Magazine. In contrast, the back nine is built primarily on the sand dunes and is reminiscent of a Scottish links style course. The wind blows across the dunes and tests a players ability to control his game. Sixteen, seventeen, and eighteen provide one of the toughest trios of finishing holes you will ever face. Play the finishing three at Sandpines in even par and you may be ready to head out on tour. A driving range, putting green and "Wee-Links", a 9-hole putting course, are also available. Ocean Dunes is a true golf links, with native Scotch broom, wax myrtle, rhododendrons and shore pine blending easily with the bunkers and greens and creating a magnificent view.  Designed by golf course architect William G. Robinson, the natural sand base of this course provides a dry, firm playing surface year round.
